Kingston sits at the top of the bay just north of us, close enough that it is effectively a home-town job. The town splits between the older streets near the village and the Jones River, and the newer development that has filled in west of Route 3 over the last few decades.
Those two halves want different things. Older village lots are tighter, with mature trees and boundaries that are not always well marked. The newer subdivisions have clear lines, open yards and homeowners who mostly want six-foot privacy panels and a deck to match. We do a lot of both here.
What we plan for in Kingston
- Jones River and bay-edge properties can fall under conservation jurisdiction.
- Older village lots often have unmarked boundaries where a plot plan saves argument later.
- Newer subdivisions west of Route 3 tend toward straightforward privacy and deck work.
- Close enough to our Plymouth base that scheduling is flexible and follow-up is easy.

Permits in Kingston
Coastal properties can carry constraints beyond ordinary residential zoning, including conservation jurisdiction near marsh, bank and wetland, and in some areas flood-zone considerations. Fence height rules are set locally and we will not state a number we have not checked for your address. Confirm with the Town of Kingston Building Department before ordering material. Attached decks almost always require a permit and an inspection.

Fencing and decks in Kingston: your questions
Do you cover Kingston often?
Very often. Kingston borders Plymouth and is one of the closest towns to our base, so it is a regular part of our week rather than an occasional trip. That usually means good availability and easy scheduling for site visits.
My Kingston property is near the Jones River. Does that matter?
It can. River and wetland edges frequently fall under conservation commission jurisdiction, which is a separate approval from a building permit. Whether it applies depends on how close your fence line runs to the resource area. We will flag it at the estimate so you can confirm with the town before ordering material.
Which parts of Kingston do you cover?
All of it. That includes Kingston Village, Rocky Nook, Silver Lake area, Indian Pond and the rest of the town, across ZIP 02364. Kingston sits inside our 35 mile radius from Plymouth, along with the rest of Plymouth County.
What does a fence or deck cost in Kingston?
It depends on material, linear footage, height, terrain and how many gates you need, and on a typical lot here the run length is the main driver. Most of our residential projects land between $1,500 and $12,000. Estimates are free, quoted line by line, with no hidden fees.
Do I need a permit in Kingston?
Quite possibly, and the requirements are set locally rather than statewide. Attached decks almost always need a permit and an inspection, and fences above a certain height often do. Confirm with the Town of Kingston Building Department before you order material. We build to whatever they approve and will flag at the estimate what your project is likely to need.
